¹² They said to him, “We’ve come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines.”

Samson said, “Swear to me^(A) that you won’t kill me yourselves.”

⁹ Then he remembered his dreams^(A) about them and said to them, “You are spies!^(B) You have come to see where our land is unprotected.”^(C)

² But in the third year Jehoshaphat king of Judah went down to see the king of Israel.

²⁶ At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath:^(A) “Cursed^(B) before the Lord is the one who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho:

³⁴ In Ahab’s time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the Lord spoken by Joshua son of Nun.^(A)
